ABOUT Range LP
Our History
Range Cooperatives, Inc. began back in 1933 as Range Co-op Federation with a trucking department. A variety of other businesses including a funeral home, sausage plant, car dealership, creamery, fuel delivery and more have been part of the Co-op throughout the years. The Co-op arrangement was meant to keep resources in the local community during the Depression.
The current Range LP office in Virginia was purchased in 1961 from Forgas LP Gas Company which started the LP delivery business for Range Co-op. The LP delivery business expanded across the range and soon included cylinder delivery as well as service to our customers.
Range LP Gas gained a presence in the Ely area in the late 1990’s as the delivery business expanded and a need for service on LP appliances was seen. In 2002, Range Co-op purchased the current Range LP office on Camp Street establishing a permanent home for the Co-op to serve Ely and the surrounding communities.
RANGE LP TODAY
Local investment continues to be one of our highest values at Range Co-op. We donate to a variety of community events, especially in support of education. We provide college scholarships to local students in partnership with the Virginia Co-op Credit Union. It’s rewarding to support local community members and give back to our hometowns! We are proudly staffed by a team of “familiar faces,” all from the Iron Range area.
